    After spending many years in the workforce, I decided to invest in my education and personal growth. My freshman year at City College began in the Fall 2008, and it has been an invaluable and rewarding experience. The literature classes that I have taken have had a major influence on my decision to go to graduate school. I was accepted into the City College Fellowship Program where I interacted with other ambitious cohorts and faculty who I learned from. I am also extremely grateful to be accepted into the Kaye Scholarship Program, and also into the Mellon Mays Fellowship. These opportunities will allow me to engage with an even larger body of student for support and motivation.

Kaye has definitely opened my perception to the fact that almost nothing is out of reach if one gives it a sincere try. With the backing of a program like Kaye, many academic doors have been opened for me, if not solely through the program, through the extra boost of confidence that Kaye has given me as well.
